Sterile Processing Specialist

About the Role:
As a Sterile Processing Technician at Huggins Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive, disassemble, decontaminate, sterilize, and assemble surgical equipment and instruments
• Collaborate with surgical services leadership to ensure proper sets are available for all scheduled procedures
• Operate decontamination equipment according to strict quality control standards and manufacturers' requirements
• Perform, interpret, and document biological indicator results on all loads, notifying supervisor when indicators are out of range
• Utilize appropriate recording charts for all sterilization cycles and perform preventive maintenance on hospital-wide patient care equipment
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Certification by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) within 18 months of hire if no experience
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and accurately
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage mental stress
• Familiarity with computer and other business machines
