Job Title: Financial Controller

Charter One Realty, a leading real estate company on Hilton Head Island and the Lowcountry, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the accounting functions and manage the day-to-day transactional activities of the organization.

Job Summary:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and managing cash flow, budgets, and forecasting. This role will play a key part in supporting strategic financial planning and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, while contributing to the overall success and financial stability of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, job cost accounting, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to the Company Partners.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate quarterly accounting reviews, annual audits, and tax returns.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • C.P.A. required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of professional accounting/finance experience.
  • 5 years of real estate and/or construction accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Expertise in GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience in leading successful audits and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in financial software (AccountTech preferred, but not required), project management software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with Corporate Staff and Partners.
