The Regional Service Operations Manager is accountable for the productivity and profitability of service departments within their designated area. This role involves leading and mentoring service managers, as well as providing guidance and recommendations for process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Promotes and embodies the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Ensures a clean and safe working environment in collaboration with the Safety Manager
- Establishes annual objectives for the service departments, including anticipated labor billings based on sales forecasts, rental agreements, and equipment sales
- Regularly assesses department performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
- Develops Standard Operating Procedures in partnership with the VP and other Regional Service Managers to maintain consistency across branches
- Monitors all OEM factory campaigns to achieve a 100% completion rate for mandatory initiatives
- Builds relationships with represented manufacturers to enhance support efforts
- Collaborates with the Training department to ensure technicians receive appropriate training on products
- Works with Service Managers to identify annual capital expenditure requirements for senior management review
- Partners with Branch Operations Managers to address issues and develop tailored service support plans
- Encourages positive inter-departmental relationships within the local branch and across company facilities
- Engages directly with Branch Service Managers and customers to resolve disputes professionally
- Identifies technician and shop tooling needs in collaboration with Branch Service Managers and Product Service Managers
- Assists in identifying hiring needs and interviewing potential technicians
- Ensures departmental performance metrics are met, including work in progress, invoicing, and technician efficiency
- Facilitates effective communication throughout locations via regular team and one-on-one meetings, promoting an open-door policy and seeking feedback
- Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Five years of experience in a multi-branch heavy equipment dealership or related field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in organizing, planning, and completing tasks to manage high volumes of departmental paperwork
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Physical capability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
- Willingness to work in extreme temperatures and various environmental conditions
- Capacity to perform maintenance on equipment for extended periods, including frequent mounting and dismounting
- Commitment to adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) policies and maintaining PPE in good condition
