Job Summary:

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a highly skilled and experienced laboratory professional. As a Senior Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a team of support and/or production level employees in Test and Validation, managing small engineering projects, forecasting project revenues, and assisting the management team in optimizing efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a staff of hourly and/or support employees and coordinate activities involving test and validation to ensure that the team produces quality work.
  • Provide technical leadership to team members on all protocols for testing/validation.
  • Alert and assist the management team in addressing any technical issues during the testing period to ensure production quality.
  • Collect and report production quality issues to operations.
  • Oversee and support troubleshooting for chillers and lab support systems.
  • Schedule and oversee customer and engineering performance testing of large, water-cooled chillers in the Charlotte lab, engineering department.
  • Position has strong interaction with engineers, factory personnel, and other lab team members.
  • The position has direct interaction with end customers and presents test data reports for live and remote customer witness tests.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in a Technical Field
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC
  • 3+ years of laboratory experience, with precise measurement systems including electrical, temperature, pressure, and flow measurements
  • OR 3+ years of strong commercial HVAC experience (preferably with water-cooled chiller operation, troubleshooting)
  • OR 3+ years of familiarity with medium voltage electrical connections
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience of data acquisition systems
  • Strong trouble-shooting skills including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and software configuration
  • Familiarity with large commercial equipment, 3-phase voltages up to 6900V, transformers, chiller starters, and variable Frequency Drives.
  • Trained and capable in LO/TO and Arc Flash procedures.
  • Experience with hydronic systems, including pumps, actuated valves, flow meters, boilers, cooling towers.
  • EPA 608 universal refrigerant certification.
