Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team on the 3rd Floor Medical Surgical Unit at UNC Health Care. As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information, reporting significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide indirect care to patients and assigned areas, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and supplies.
  • Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and document patient understanding of instructions.

Requirements:

  • Listing as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.

Work Environment:

The 3rd Floor Medical Surgical Unit is a 33-bed unit that serves primarily medical patients, with occasional pediatric patients for overnight observation. As a Nursing Assistant on this unit, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of medical diagnoses, including pneumonia, congestive heart failure, abdominal pain, and more.
