Job Overview:
Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) is a vibrant environmental consulting firm with a focus on ecological and statistical services. We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Wildlife Consultant specializing in bat biology. This role involves leading our bat survey initiatives, ensuring compliance with USFWS guidelines, and collaborating with Project Managers and fellow biologists to develop effective survey strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and mentor bat biologists and field teams during summer presence/absence surveys, providing expert guidance on survey methodologies in accordance with USFWS standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison for WEST project managers, assisting in the preparation and review of proposals, budgets, and technical reports related to bat surveys.
  • Stay informed about the latest USFWS guidelines for Indiana and Northern long-eared bats.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot bat acoustic detection equipment in the field.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination with WEST Project Managers and field staff.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with the following qualifications:

  • Possession of a federal recovery permit for capturing Indiana bats, Northern long-eared bats, and gray bats across various regions, with the ability to include tricolored bats.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Biology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in staff and project management, as well as field experience with mist-net surveys, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to collect and manage data effectively, implementing quality control measures.

Additional Information:
Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check. A valid driver's license is necessary for this position.
