Anesthesia Technician Specialist

Geisinger Health System seeks a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing, operating, cleaning, and caring for anesthesia supplies and equipment. You will assist nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists in line placements and patient care as required.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in setups for all emergent and non-emergent procedures, including open hearts and traumas.
- Obtain and prepare all equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assist in their transport.
- Assist in lifting and positioning of patients.
- Assist anesthetist during the induction of anesthesia as required.
- Order and pick up local drugs and inhalational agents from Pharmacy.
- Stock block carts with needed drugs.
- Requires knowledge of generic and current trade names of all pharmaceuticals used by the department.
- Prepare monthly special order supply list as assigned.
- Stock and clean all assigned areas daily.
- Perform decontamination procedures.
- Stock, clean, and replace all anesthesia equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Set up all special monitoring lines for the Surgical Suite.
- Operate Level One Rapid Infuser Pump.
- Change soda lime in canisters weekly and as needed.
- Perform leak check procedures and proper disposal of exhausted chemical.
- Coordinate basic upkeep and maintenance of anesthesia machinery.
- Send blood to stat lab for analysis.
- Perform laboratory procedures for labeling, container selection, lab slip preparation, and techniques for tube operation.
- Obtain and prepare all equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assist in their transport.
- Assist in lifting and positioning of patients.
- Assist anesthetist during the induction of anesthesia as required.
- Maintain all specialty carts in the department.
- Set up and calibrate machines that are transported to outside areas.
- Assist with inspection and repair of equipment.
- Obtain used Medtronic Dual Channel Pacemakers.
- Clean pacemakers, change battery and bags.
- Ensure pacemakers turn on and are working properly.
