Job Summary

The City of Bakersfield, CA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Craftworker I/II to join our Public Works team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will perform a variety of tasks related to the construction, remodeling, and maintenance of city facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled journey-level work in construction, carpentry, plumbing, welding, fabrication, painting, and maintenance
  • Use pressure washers and airless paint sprayers to remove graffiti and utilize computers for regulatory documentation and record-keeping
  • Work on Fire Department facilities, including fabrication, welding, plumbing, remodeling, carpentry, painting, and irrigation
  • Lead small crews and perform other work as required
Requirements
  • Four (4) years' experience in an appropriate trade or related technical area, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license
  • For Maintenance Craftworker II: three (3) years of experience at a level equivalent to the city's Maintenance Craftworker I class
