The Supervisor is tasked with the recruitment, management, and professional development of staff, utilizing performance evaluations, one-on-one meetings, case assessments, and field observations to ensure adherence to productivity standards and compliance with established policies and procedures.

Additionally, the Supervisor offers analytical support and technical guidance to design, implement, and evaluate solutions aimed at enhancing the outcomes of CPI cases, ensuring the safety and well-being of the families served.

As a subject matter expert, the Supervisor provides strategic guidance and consultation to both internal staff and external stakeholders, facilitating effective service delivery.

The Supervisor holds significant accountability for critical decisions impacting child protection.

Engagement with program directors, regional management, caseworkers, and external stakeholders is essential to discuss complex and sensitive CPI cases, prioritizing urgent reporting requirements.

This position operates in a dynamic environment, necessitating daily evaluations and decision-making regarding child safety concerns.

Regular on-call responsibilities are required, with the frequency determined by regional needs, including potential duties during weekends and holidays.

The Supervisor ensures compliance with the Child Protective Services Handbook and relevant state regulations.

Frequent interactions with clients, legal representatives, child advocacy organizations, and educational personnel are integral to the role, ensuring comprehensive oversight of investigations.

The position operates with a degree of autonomy, allowing for initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintains regular attendance in accordance with agency policies and fulfills additional duties as assigned.


Oversees and directs case actions related to safety, risk, and permanency on a daily basis.

Ensures timely engagement with all cases and promotes continuous assessment of child safety throughout investigations by reviewing documentation for accuracy.

Evaluates team performance through case reviews, ensuring timely completion of safety assessments and referrals to community resources when necessary to mitigate risks to children.

Reviews cases for closure in line with departmental policies, consulting with leadership when unresolved risk factors are identified. (40%)

  • Implements program protocols, manages administrative tasks for staff, and leads unit meetings. The Supervisor reviews incoming abuse/neglect cases daily, providing consultation to assess and address child safety issues, ensuring timely family contact. Additionally, the Supervisor oversees timekeeping and manages staff overtime while conducting training and monthly meetings to communicate policy updates and operational trends. (25%)
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, hiring, and developing staff. Conducts field visits, performance reviews, and monthly conferences to foster professional growth. Evaluates unit performance through case reviews and operational observations to ensure compliance with policies and best practices. The Supervisor is committed to developing competent staff capable of effectively supporting families in achieving safety and well-being. (20%)
  • Consults with unit staff to interpret program policies and procedures for various stakeholders, including parents, children, and community partners. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with internal and external parties to enhance coordination and effectiveness of unit operations. Represents the program at various meetings and events. (10%)
  • Performs additional duties as required to support unit operations. (5%)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
