Sterile Processing Specialist

Job Summary:

This Sterile Processing Technician III role at Boston Children's Hospital involves maintaining the highest standards of sterility and quality in the preparation and processing of surgical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sterile processing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transporting and restocking surgical instrumentation and medical materials in designated areas

• Receiving, sorting, cleaning, and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments and equipment

• Inspecting, preparing, and sterilizing surgical instruments and materials

• Assembling trays and packets of instruments and medical supplies for surgical procedures

• Operating and monitoring sterilizers, including programming settings and temperature control

Requirements:

• Certification in Sterile/Central Processing is strongly preferred

• High school degree or GED equivalent required

• Minimum of three years experience in Sterile Processing/Central Processing required

• Previous experience with Endoscopes required

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
