About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team at Medtronic. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Requirements
  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Nice to Have
  • Lean Sigma Black Belt or very experienced Green Belt.
  • Process Simulation.
  • Process Capacity Analysis and Process (Time studies, line balancing) improvement experience.
  • Line Layout design and implementation (Space planning).
  • Demonstrated experience in the use and implementation of the Lean (SMED, VSA, 5S) and Six sigma toolset.
  • AutoCad (2D) and Advanced Excel.
  • Experience with the Tier process, Daily management system and Leader Standard work.
  • Scrap reduction.
  • Good communication skills and project management.
