Senior Vice President of Operations

Mission:

The Senior Vice President of Operations is responsible for overseeing all non-instructional functions within the Southern Louisiana region, ensuring excellence in the design, preparation, and execution of operations, compliance, and campus support. Reporting directly to the National Executive Director, this role collaborates closely with the Vice President of Schools, serving as a key representative to external stakeholders and providing regular updates to the local board of directors. The SVP of Operations will foster a strong, collaborative partnership with the Vice President of Schools to drive the region towards its strategic goals and enhance student outcomes.

- Regional Director of Talent

- Executive Assistant

Location:

This is a full-time hybrid position, combining remote and on-site work.

Travel Expectations: Travel is primarily within the local region, with occasional travel across the state.

What You'll Do - Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

- Ensure all schools comply with local, authorizer, and federal operational requirements:
  • Manage relationships with authorizer personnel.
  • Participate in local trainings and board meetings to stay informed and share resources.
  • Attend relevant trainings on operational compliance and disseminate key learnings.
  • Create and enforce internal deadlines and tracking processes.
  • Conduct field reviews for compliance and accountability.
  • Oversee compliance-related reporting and ensure accurate maintenance of Student Information Systems.
  • Maintain strong relationships with local authorizers.
  • Stay updated on Louisiana charter laws and policies.
  • Develop and implement regional and school site policies in accordance with state statutes.
  • Adhere to the charter contract and management agreements.
- Build and manage an effective local governance team:
  • Collaborate with the Chief Governance Officer to maintain a pipeline of diverse board members.
  • Support the recruitment and development of a local fiduciary board.
  • Prepare regular reports for the board and seek feedback for improvement.
  • Respond promptly to board member communications.
  • Maintain a healthy relationship with local board counsel.
  • Partner with the Governance team to ensure compliant board meetings.
- Achieve enrollment, persistence, and family engagement goals:
  • Align strategies with the VP of Schools to drive results.
  • Focus on staff and student retention, especially during key enrollment periods.
  • Maximize funding opportunities through grant alignment.
  • Develop community partnerships.
  • Communicate progress and gaps with stakeholders.
- Ensure strong operational planning and execution:
  • Manage the Regional Director of Operations to support effective school planning.
  • Review strategic planning for operational programs.
  • Ensure quality talent pipelines are established for all roles.
  • Meet local and state hiring requirements.
- Foster community collaboration:
  • Maintain positive relationships with local partners.
  • Support external partnerships focused on operational governance.
  • Engage with local officials to promote the region.
