Job Overview

Position Summary

The Tire Management Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing tire operations during racing events. This position involves various responsibilities such as ordering tires, gathering essential data, organizing tire sets, and maintaining records in a specialized database. The role also includes adjusting air pressures and documenting tire performance metrics. This is a full-time position that requires travel within the NASCAR Cup Series.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize standard measuring tools to set and document air pressure, assess tire temperature, and evaluate tire wear.
  • Analyze collected data and present findings to the Crew Chief/Car Chief for informed decision-making.
  • Input data into a proprietary tracking system for tire management.
  • Sort and organize tires into appropriate sets at the racetrack.
  • Order tires for races and tests, while managing the inventory of unused tires.
  • Review and approve tire purchases made at the event.
  • Maintain organization of track equipment and manage inventory replenishment.
  • Service and clean track equipment as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Manager, including general mechanical duties.

Workshop Duties

  • Regularly maintain and restock tools and equipment.
  • Conduct weekly mechanical inspections on race vehicles.
  • Assist the Car Chief with vehicle scaling processes.
  • Support car preparation activities on a weekly basis.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on wheels.
  • Manage the team's wheel inventory effectively.
  • Document wheel inventory usage, including serial numbers and specific track applications, in the vehicle component tracking system.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the racing industry.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Basic proficiency in computer operations.
  • Some mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to assess and respond to situations in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic work setting.
  • Skills to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to drive results and execute tasks efficiently.
