Key Responsibilities:


As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will:

  • Ensure timely access to care by verifying patient eligibility and benefits before services are rendered, updating the Electronic Health Record (EHR) as necessary.
  • Assess and determine eligibility for Medicaid or Federal Marketplace insurance for uninsured patients, assisting them through the application process.
  • Collaborate with health plans to secure coverage for uninsured patients seeking services at Connections Health Solutions (CHS).
  • Reconcile daily visits with requested and confirmed applications.
  • Address any claims that are denied or rejected due to eligibility or benefits issues related to the appropriate payer.
  • Maintain accurate patient demographic information, making updates as required.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits for daily visits in accordance with CHS protocols.
  • Assist in gathering missing data to support eligibility assessments.
  • Work with CHS staff and health plans to aid patients in completing Medicaid enrollment applications.
  • Collect and relay necessary information regarding patients' insurance carriers.
  • Monitor Medicaid applications to ensure they are complete and accepted.
  • Update the EHR with essential information for timely and accurate billing.
  • Resolve registration and authorization issues during patient visits.
  • Review eligibility software daily to rectify errors identified during patient interactions.
  • Guide patients in identifying suitable Financial Assistance Programs that meet their needs.
  • Coordinate additional information with clinical operations and Revenue Cycle Management teams.
  • Conduct client checkout reviews to ensure all information is complete before claim submission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Access Manager.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
  • A high school diploma.
  • Experience in patient registration within a multi-specialty or hospital environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, specifically in verifying health plan eligibility and benefits.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 2 years of experience in a behavioral health managed care and clinical setting.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in behavioral health, social work, medical coding, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in physician, hospital, or facility benefit verification/billing within a multi-specialty environment.
  • Current HEA Plus assister qualifications.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
