As a vital member of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging, the Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for patients and referring professionals. This position is focused on providing exceptional service during the patient registration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Registration (75%): Welcome and check-in patients scheduled for imaging services; accurately gather demographic information and manage payment plans and copays.
- Handle incoming calls efficiently for center associates and confirm patient appointments.
- Act as a communication bridge between technologists and patients awaiting exams, relaying important information regarding scanner status and clinic updates.
- Maintain the front office lobby by organizing materials and ensuring a tidy environment.
- Prepare necessary paperwork for daily and upcoming appointments and manage requests for reports and medical release forms.
- Collaborate closely with technologists to facilitate a smooth transition for patients between the front office and technical areas.
Insurance Verification (10%):
- Confirm patient insurance details and pre-certify all exams with the respective insurance companies.
- Obtain necessary insurance authorizations and utilize knowledge of insurance carriers to navigate procedures requiring waivers.
- Process release of information requests in accordance with company guidelines.
Scheduling Duties (10%):
- Coordinate transportation, interpreters, and accommodations for patients as needed.
- Input and submit patient exam orders, ensuring accuracy with scheduling.
- Manage referrals and ensure all necessary authorizations are secured.
- Process requests for image orders and maintain an accurate database of referring physicians.
Additional Responsibilities (5%):
Complete other tasks as assigned to support the overall operations of the center.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in customer service.
- Strong computer skills and typing proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a medical office setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
