Job Overview

Sylvan Learning - Southwest Texas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Education to lead our educational programs and services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for championing our developed curriculum, managing and ensuring the quality of education standards and teaching staff, and growing the business in your center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grow the Center:
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase student enrollment and retention
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide exceptional customer service and support
    • Monitor and analyze program progress, making recommendations for improvement
  • Manage & Train:
    • Select, hire, train, and motivate certified instructors, teachers, and educational staff
    • Contribute to center profitability by controlling labor budget and managing instructor staffing levels and schedules
    • Provide oversight to staff related to educational policies and procedures
  • Partner with the Center Director to Run Operations:
    • Motivate and develop staff through ongoing trainings and workshops
    • Administer Sylvan Skills Assessments, analyze and interpret results
    • Write and recommend goal-based programs for Sylvan students, monitoring programs for performance
    • Establish relationships and communications with students' teachers for insights on school progress
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and teaching experience preferred
  • State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired)
  • Managerial experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of current educational policy
  • Previous business, retail, and/or sales experience preferred
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and other standard business applications used by the Center
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
  • Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to work a minimum of 45 hours a week
  • Comfort with a 5-day per week work schedule that includes two nights per week and 50% of the Saturdays throughout the year
