Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist III is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of all hotel facilities, which encompasses public spaces, exterior building areas, guest rooms, and corridors.


Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the Director of Engineering, Engineering Supervisor, and Managers On Duty.


Key Relationships:

Internal: Collaborates with Engineering, Loss Prevention, Front Desk, and Housekeeping teams.

External: Engages with suppliers and hotel guests.


Standard Specifications:

1) Proven experience in building maintenance with certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC disciplines. The role requires physical capabilities such as heavy lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Qualifications:

Essential:

1) High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with vocational training in building maintenance.

2) Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

3) Ability to work effectively within a team.

4) Competence in basic mathematical calculations.

5) Professional demeanor when interacting with the public.

6) Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

7) Capability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

8) Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

9) Commitment to achieving quality results.

Desirable:

1) Completion of trade school or apprenticeship in general building maintenance, HVAC, or related fields.

2) A minimum of two years of experience in a hotel engineering environment.

Skills:

Essential:

1) No prior electrical, plumbing, or HVAC experience is necessary.

2) Basic understanding of painting and cleaning techniques.

3) Familiarity with furniture touch-up processes.

4) Ability to remain calm during emergencies.

5) Positive interaction skills with guests and colleagues.

6) Capacity to work independently without supervision.

7) Proficient use of hand and power tools.

8) Commitment to safety and orderliness in a team environment.

9) Professional conduct while working in public areas.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for maintaining and repairing all hotel areas in accordance with established procedures and standards.

1) Report any unusual findings or safety hazards to the Team Leader and Director of Support Services.

2) Document all maintenance activities on inspection sheets and work orders.

3) Complete daily shift engineer checklists and report any irregularities.

4) Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas and assist in inventory management of tools and materials.

5) Respond promptly to guest requests and emergency situations.

6) Successfully complete all training and safety certifications as required.

7) Timely completion of work orders and assignments.

8) Conduct regular inspections for maintenance needs.

9) Maintain accurate records and logs as requested.

10) Understand and implement hotel emergency procedures.

11) Perform additional engineering duties as assigned by supervisors.

12) Ensure safe working conditions in all areas.

Secondary Functions:

1) Participate in departmental meetings for problem-solving and improvement initiatives.

2) Assist other departments by providing support as needed.
