Washington, United States Digital Library Federation Full time

The Digital Library Federation is searching for an exceptional Senior Collections Manager to lead the preservation and long-term usability of its tangible collections. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of cultural heritage preservation, collaborating with a team of experts in the field.

This key role reports directly to the Associate Librarian for Discovery and Preservation Services and is part of the Library Collections and Services Group. As the Senior Collections Manager, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Preservation Directorate, ensuring that the Library's collections are preserved and made accessible for future generations.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of preservation principles and practices, as well as experience in managing large-scale collections and working with diverse stakeholders. You will be expected to stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in preservation and digitization, applying this knowledge to inform the development of new initiatives and programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Preservation Directorate and overseeing the work of four divisions: Conservation, Preservation Research and Testing, Collections Management, and Preservation Services.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for inventory control, digitization, and exhibition preparation activities.
  • Managing the implementation of new open-source inventory management software systems.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to advance the institution's compliance with its Collections Security Plan.

In return for your expertise and dedication, the Digital Library Federation offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 - $140,000, based on location and experience. This non-bargaining unit position requires a Top-Secret Security Clearance, which must be obtained and maintained by the selectee. A flexible work schedule and telework eligibility are also available, making this a great opportunity for those seeking a balance between work and personal life.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of professionals. If you are passionate about preserving our cultural heritage and have a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
