A Polysomnographic Technologist plays a crucial role in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders at Corewell Health.

This position involves providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, as well as patient care and education, under the supervision of the Medical Director and designee.

The ideal candidate will have formal training in polysomnography and/or be enrolled in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option.

Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs, preparing and calibrating testing equipment, and generating accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for optimal patient safety and therapeutic intervention, and working closely with staff members, trainees, and students to provide instruction, education, and precept/mentor in order to deliver optimal testing results.

Additionally, this role involves stepping in as backup in the Lead Tech position to supervise junior staff members and engaging in department QA/QI, PI, and Joint Commission & Patient Family Center Care projects.

Required qualifications include mandatory continuous and unit-specific annual education as mandated by department and credentialing body, as well as AASM Guidelines.
