Position Summary

The Pouch Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of pouch manufacturing equipment, transforming laminated films into high-quality pouches that align with customer specifications. This role encompasses a variety of essential functions aimed at maintaining production efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company policies regarding Quality Systems, Operations, and Human Resources, ensuring safety and accuracy in documentation.
  • Achieve or surpass established performance metrics related to line speeds, waste management, and setup durations.
  • Communicate any required machine maintenance to the engineering team through formal work orders.
  • Identify and report unsafe working conditions to the production supervisor promptly.
  • Engage in continuous training initiatives and foster a culture of quality improvement.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Analyze job specifications and historical run data to determine necessary machine adjustments and material needs.
  • Set machine stops or guides to specified lengths as required.
  • Monitor machine operations to identify defects or malfunctions, making necessary corrections to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Conduct quality tests on produced items, including burst tests and drop tests.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing zippers and seals.
  • Collaborate with assistant operators to stack, label, pack, and transport finished products.
  • Review and follow relevant work instructions and procedures.
  • Execute changeovers and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production reports and oversee the performance of Pouch Assistants.
  • Remove waste materials and ensure proper disposal.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Strong sense of ownership and teamwork.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Visual acuity for color consistency and detail.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for operating tools and equipment.
  • Capability to work safely in proximity to machinery.

Experience and Education

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of flexible packaging materials is advantageous.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is essential.

Work Environment

  • Work involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs is necessary.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including hairnets and steel-toed shoes.
