Program Financial Analyst

Position Overview:
This role is designed to deliver comprehensive financial management, analytical insights, and strategic finance collaboration to Program Managers throughout the entire project lifecycle. The analyst will partner with Program Managers to oversee the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and ensure that actual expenditures are accurately recorded in the ERP system, while also ensuring timely budgeting and accounting of all pertinent costs. Responsibilities will include forecasting sales, inventory, gross margin, and cash flow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide continuous analytical financial support to Program Managers, facilitating the preparation of financial statements, conducting thorough program reviews, and identifying critical areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of program financials.
This will encompass:
  • Participating in program initiation meetings, establishing the program in the ERP system, and creating the WBS.
  • Developing project cost accumulation methods in line with contractual obligations, considering the implications of the contract and program.
  • Applying knowledge of direct and indirect rate applications across various contract types (e.g., FFP, FPI, CPFF, CPIF, and T&M) and advising the program team on potential impacts.
  • Reviewing all cost components charged to assigned programs to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Analyzing cost and rate applications to guarantee proper accounting of projects.
  • Comparing actual program costs against bid/budget costs, highlighting discrepancies, and proposing recovery strategies where necessary.
  • Collaborating with Make-To-Order (MTO) and Make-To-Stock (MTS) programs, understanding the accounting treatments within the ERP system.
  • Working with Program Managers to document contract performance, monthly Estimates to Complete (ETC), and Estimates at Completion (EAC) projections, while providing revenue and gross margin forecasts per project.
  • Preparing invoices in compliance with government contracts and relevant regulations.
  • Monitoring cumulative billings against contract values and identifying programs nearing contract limits.
  • Presenting financial outcomes during monthly program management reviews.
  • Assisting management and senior analysts in preparing and reviewing deliverables, training new team members, and establishing best practices.
  • Adhering to all applicable U.S. export and security regulations.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile:
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly SAP, is essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and functions.

Education:

  • Prior experience with SAP is advantageous.
  • Experience in process improvement is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) is a plus.
