Job Summary

The Access Services Representative 1 plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient registration and financial clearance processes. This individual is responsible for obtaining accurate demographics and insurance information, verifying patient eligibility, and negotiating patient financial responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, and billing.
  • Register patients at multiple locations and work multiple areas within the department, ensuring efficient patient flow processes.
  • Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and calculate patient liability dues according to financial clearance policies.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with patients as needed and collect patient liability dues.
  • Assist patients with nursing unit directions, personal escort, and medical mobility assistance when required.
  • Adhere to compliance with regard to order validations, cash policy requirements, government payor requirements, and patient safety requirements.
Requirements
  • Good listening and communication skills, with professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a highly stressful and emotional environment.
  • High level of empathy and effective communication skills to interact with patients and family members during traumatic events.
  • Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Qualifications
