Position Overview

As a Junior Structural Engineer within Laboratory Services, you will play a crucial role in supporting lab managers and ensuring that daily operations align with our rigorous standards and strategic objectives. Your duties will encompass mentoring the lab team and nurturing a culture of innovation and continuous enhancement.

In this pivotal position, you will serve as a key technical liaison for engineering stakeholders, promoting effective communication and collaboration among engineers, technicians, and other professionals engaged in various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Coordination and Support (45%): Oversee the coordination and validation of all testing requests, ensuring compliance with our lab's standards. Provide ongoing technical assistance throughout the testing phases, mentor the lab team, and ensure clear communication of test outcomes to all relevant parties.
  • Project and Event Management (30%): Lead special projects, managing their development and execution from inception to completion. This includes organizing tests for high-profile events, ensuring alignment with our strategic research goals and maximizing stakeholder involvement.
  • Inter-Laboratory Technical Support (15%): Offer essential engineering insights and technical guidance to other labs within our organization, particularly those that may lack specialized testing expertise. Your contributions will help standardize testing processes and enhance overall quality across our facilities.
  • Research and Development Support (10%): Participate in thorough product investigations and the creation of new testing protocols. Your efforts will be vital in advancing our laboratory's research capabilities and fostering innovation in the structural engineering domain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering is required (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Experience in structural and seismic engineering, mechanical systems, hydraulic power transmission, and data acquisition is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a technical engineering role, ideally within a laboratory environment.
  • Proven project management abilities and experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, and Revit, along with familiarity with data acquisition systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
