Position Summary

The Facilities team is responsible for designing, operating, and maintaining advanced electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems within DartPoints data centers, functioning in a 24/7 mission-critical environment across multiple locations.

Facilities Technicians at DartPoints are tasked with operating, monitoring, and supporting the physical conditions of facilities.

Key responsibilities include managing climate control, power supply, generators, UPS and flywheel systems, electrical distribution and control, physical security, and monitoring systems.

Technicians routinely assist in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various critical and non-critical data center electrical or mechanical systems. They also support the Operations team as needed to provision and de-provision services for both internal and external clients.
Technicians ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently upheld, swiftly identifying issues and executing repairs.

In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, technicians are responsible for managing data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time from failures.

Responsibilities

Key Areas Include:
Electrical, Mechanical, General Facilities, Building Monitoring and Control.
Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in DartPoints' 24/7 data center facilities.
Maintain, repair, and replace building systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and lighting) as necessary.
Oversee the upkeep of building interiors and exteriors based on location requirements (office space, common areas, lighting, landscaping, parking lots, etc.)
Document, track, and analyze operational characteristics.
Coordinate, communicate, and schedule general trades and specialty contractors for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Install electrical branch feeders and circuits in accordance with NEC standards.
Install network infrastructure cabling, fiber optics, and Category 6.
Travel - Occasional Day Travel; Infrequent Overnight Travel.
Qualifications
Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other verifiable training in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in mechanical/HVAC or electrical at a journeyman or technician level (minimum of 2 years in a critical environment; 5 years preferred).
Professional Licensing in Mechanical or Electrical.
Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing/rebuilding equipment.
Respond promptly to service requests and changes per company policy and procedure.
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50+ lbs; work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including: Branch Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, PDU units, HVAC AHU, CRAC and CRAH units, Fire Alarm systems, Clean-agent fire suppression systems, Pre-Action fire suppression systems.
Ability to communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.
Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or when on-call.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
This position may require shift work that includes weekends and holidays. The following criteria apply to all positions: Employees must complete individual quarterly objectives as assigned.
