Directions for Living is seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work with families who have been determined to be safe but at high risk of future child abuse and neglect. Your role will be to provide support and guidance to help families create safe and stable parenting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support and guidance to families in need
- Assist case givers in understanding the need for services and the benefits of active participation in the program
- Help caregivers get and remain on track with case plan goals
- Work with clients daily to get to resources and make connections with others
- Provide advocacy and support to families, emphasizing progress made
- Increase mental wellness and reduce stigma related to mental health diagnoses
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Relevant lived experience in child welfare, mental health, or substance use treatment and recovery
