Emergency Medical Care Specialist

The Paramedic is a critical care professional at CHI Saint Joseph Health, responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients in the emergency department. This role requires collaboration with a comprehensive care team, including RNs, physicians, and ancillary staff.
Key Responsibilities- Under physician medical oversight, the Paramedic will ensure quality of care by following the National EMS Scope of Practice Model and aligning their role with CHI Saint Joseph Health functions.
- Administer BLS, PALS, ACLS, and critical care interventions as ordered by the attending physician.
- Perform triage, assessments, interventions, and patient education as needed.
- Document patient care services in a timely manner.
- Promote patient independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals, teaching patients and their families, and answering questions.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
- Clearly identify themselves as a licensed paramedic while operating.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to all CHI Saint Joseph Health policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations.
- Be willing to pursue new levels of professional growth and development.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from a nationally/state-approved accrediting paramedic program.
- Unrestricted Kentucky Paramedic License.
- Active BLS, ACLS, PALS American Heart Association certifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to break down problems or tasks and identify causes and consequences.
- Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.
- Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines.
- 2 years of experience as a paramedic in a high-volume patient care setting, approved Critical Care endorsement, previous aeromedical, or clinical ER experience.
