Responsibilities

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is seeking a neonatologist to enhance its practice at a local health facility. The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides:

  • Expansion to a Level III NICU in the near future
  • Transitioning from 10 to 15 private rooms
  • A modern maternity tower with a newly established NICU
  • Approximately 2000 annual deliveries with an average daily census of 10-12
  • Diverse ventilation techniques, including HFOV, SIMV, CPAP, and HFNC; as well as iNO
  • Therapeutic hypothermia interventions
  • A dedicated neonatal nurse PICC team
  • A monthly follow-up clinic
  • Comprehensive pediatric subspecialty support
  • Flexible scheduling with around 7-9 shifts per month
  • Generous Sign-On Bonus

A Day in Neonatology

Our highly skilled, board-certified neonatologists provide care for the most delicate and vulnerable infants. A typical day includes:

  • Diagnosing and managing newborns with various medical conditions, such as respiratory issues, infections, and congenital anomalies
  • Coordinating care for premature and critically ill newborns requiring surgical intervention
  • Ensuring optimal nutrition for critically ill infants to promote healing and growth
  • Providing immediate care during Cesarean sections or other deliveries involving maternal or neonatal complications
  • Stabilizing and treating newborns facing life-threatening health challenges
  • Collaborating with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals regarding newborn health issues
