Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Facilities Operations to join our team at HealthAlliance Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the repair, construction, and reconstruction of our hospital's physical plant and its contents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer programs to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment associated with each facility in accordance with state and governing regulations.
  • Ensure each location is readied for inspections from regulatory agencies, including NYSDOH, DNV, NY Housing and Development, CMS, and others.
  • Administer a preventive maintenance program to maintain facilities and their grounds at the standard set by administration.
  • Direct and oversee construction projects, repairs, and process improvements.
  • Plan and implement department functions, including Maintenance/Engineering, Plant Operations, Safety, and Security.
  • Assure that facility structures, grounds, systems, and equipment operate effectively and are in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program for utilities systems, facility infrastructure, and equipment.
  • Administer the biomedical equipment maintenance program through contractual arrangements with external providers.
  • Work with hospital administration and leadership to identify facility/space/life safety issues and develop action plans to address them.
  • Act as interface with outside contractors for construction/renovation projects.
  • Act as Team Leader for the Environment of Care functions within the hospital.
  • Work with administration to support the strategic plans of the hospital as related to facility planning.
  • Provide leadership and stewardship of Plant Maintenance – Plant Operations, including monthly reporting of variances and managing labor force.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance and/or construction, with 3 years of direct supervision of a staff.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment with direct interaction with providers, patients, and staff.
  • BS in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical) preferred.
  • Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (JCAHO, NYSDOH, EPA, etc.).
  • Ability to manage project and department budgets effectively.
  • Ability to read and execute blueprints.
