Membership Director Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Membership Director will oversee all aspects of membership for the branch, including recruitment, retention, and supervision of assigned staff. This role requires developing and implementing new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement membership strategies to support recruitment and retention.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of staff functions and design training as needed.
  • Promote program and membership enrollment through interactions with existing and potential members.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and annual sustaining campaigns.
  • Personally follow up with prospects and process memberships.
  • Participate in the planning of the annual budget and manage the approved budget for membership.
  • Provide leadership in marketing and brand awareness efforts.
  • Ensure proper implementation of front desk procedures.
  • Organize membership events and represent the YMCA at community events.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the community.

This is a leadership position that requires excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, with a focus in sales and marketing, or equivalent work experience.
