- The Marine Machinery Technician will be responsible for executing tasks such as the removal, repair, and installation of major propulsion, auxiliary, and weapon system equipment in compliance with industry standards on U.S. Naval Surface Ships and Submarines.
- Responsibilities include the installation of steering and diving system components, as well as the repair of various main and auxiliary machinery, including but not limited to capstans, shaft seals, snorkel systems, and various types of pumps and valves.
- The technician is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas as outlined in the Task Order: open, inspect, and repair components of submarine seawater, hydraulic, and diesel systems; inspect and repair submarine sail components; perform maintenance on propulsion shafts and associated systems; and align equipment related to auxiliary systems such as condensers and compressors.
- Familiarity with portable and fixed machine tools such as boring bars, milling machines, and drill presses is essential.
- A minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in heavy industrial applications, including at least two (2) years of experience working on U.S. Navy vessels.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments such as height gauges, calipers, and micrometers is required.
