Job Summary:

The Commercial Credit Manager is a key role at North Shore Bank, responsible for overseeing commercial and industrial (C&I) and commercial real estate (CRE) credit underwriting and monitoring. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial lending and a proven track record of managing a team of credit analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely underwriting of commercial credit requests and communicate with lenders to monitor and efficiently manage the workflow.
  • Determine necessary documentation to support credit decisions and supervise the analysis of business and personal financial statements.
  • Serve as a technical resource to other staff members in all areas of credit and collections.
  • Participate in the Loan Committee as a voting member and accurately record all activities.
  • Prepare and distribute management and board reports.
  • Make decisions on commercial applications and ACH/RDC requests within authority level.
  • Train staff on commercial credit and maintain the loan-grading system.
  • Monitor and manage the commercial loan portfolio for credit risk.
  • Identify and develop strategies for turnaround situations and relationships.
  • Refer non-performing loans to the workout department.
  • Stay informed of lending activities, competition, and economic conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Commercial Credit Manager will foster an environment that emphasizes teamwork and professional growth while rewarding and recognizing exceptional performance. This includes providing input for training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and managing work schedules for direct reports.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate business degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial loan underwriting.
  • Commercial loan workout experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Baker Hill software is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code, commercial loan documentation, and state/federal regulations.
  • Excel and PC proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products required.
  • Understanding of credit scoring systems.
