Project Manager Job Description

At BGIS, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team in Tampa, FL and surrounding areas. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading projects from initiation to completion, ensuring proper management of all aspects of the scope of work, and conducting site visits to understand the constructability of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project progress and identify potential issues.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to the Permit Coordinator.
  • Support the purchasing of materials and/or other items necessary for completing projects.
  • Write proposals, create, track, and log change orders and RFI's.
  • Complete and submit progress or final billing requests to the project administration team.
  • Prepare deployment packages for techs.
  • Submit a Weekly Project Cost report to the Director of Projects.
  • Forecast and analyze the economic feasibility of requesting temporary labor.
  • Create project schedules, assign cost and resources, and provide cash flow and staffing forecasting.
  • Develop management plans for work sequence, safety, quality control, and commissioning.
  • Meet with current and potential customers to present proposals.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work in a timely and professional manner.
  • Determine and identify the scope of work and deliverables.
  • Conduct kick-off meetings with crews.
  • Draft and submit budgets based on scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Monitor, review, and approve project billing.
  • Assist with forecasting revenue by providing accurate data for the production report.
  • Create Piecework sheets as required.
  • Maintain financial control of projects by monitoring and managing project costs.
  • Estimate new projects and Change Orders.
  • Manage construction schedules and activities.
  • Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines for projects or programs.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant codes.
  • Negotiate with external and internal customers, building officials, subcontractors.
  • Forecast required assets needed.
  • Interview manpower candidates, as needed.
  • Review and approve timesheets.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices.
  • Track and approve employee credit card expenses.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate and uploaded into internal and external systems.
  • Negotiate and request specific subcontractor installation agreements.
  • Request and apply for Notice to Owner filing from the Permit Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in client relationship management is a key function of this position.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Construction Management, Business, or Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience managing projects in the electrical industry, preferably with a focus on HVAC Controls or Building Automation Systems.
  • Possesses a journeyman's license or master electrician license (preferred).
  • Proficiency in using various software applications, including CADD, Scheduling, MS Office Suite, and Estimation Software.
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications highly desirable.
  • Understand plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials and equipment needed to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Leadership skills with past successful project execution.
  • Working knowledge of necessary industry-related codes (NEC) and tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials, and specifications.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Experience with contract documents (contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, specifications, and change orders).
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Operating motor vehicles.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees, customers, vendors, and leadership to perform job duties. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
