Job Summary

Goodwill Central Texas is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Merchandise Processor. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth processing and display of donated merchandise in our stores.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and process merchandise from containers to determine its suitability for display on the sales floor, adhering to established guidelines and quality standards.
  • Roll and accurately stock merchandise on the sales floor, maintaining a visually appealing and organized display.
  • Accurately and timely record and monitor donations, ensuring that all items are properly accounted for and processed.
  • Stay up-to-date on brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles, and make informed decisions about which items to display and promote.
  • Sort apparel into boutique, sellable, and salvage categories according to quota, ensuring that all items are properly categorized and displayed.
  • Place items on hangers, hang hangers on rolling racks, and transport them to the sales floor, maintaining a consistent and visually appealing display.
  • Maintain a pace at which you can meet daily quota for pieces processed, ensuring that all merchandise is properly processed and displayed in a timely manner.
  • Comply with safety and security practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all donors and customers, including friendly and engaging interactions.
  • Comply with all Goodwill Central Texas policies, including participating in store meetings and trainings.
  • Adhere to your assigned work schedule, ensuring that you are available to work a flexible schedule in support of the store's opening, production, and closing operations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including the production area.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to Goodwill Central Texas uniform standards.
  • Communicate Goodwill Central Texas's mission and vision effectively to our donors and customers.
  • Cross-train as necessary in other functions of store operations and assist as needed in other areas of the store.

Requirements

  • Work a flexible schedule in support of the store's opening, production, and closing operations, including work on weekends and holidays.
  • A minimum of six months of previous work experience, or the equivalent educational or vocational experience.
  • Must be able to follow directions well and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all donors and customers in a friendly and engaging way.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8 hour shift).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles.
