Role Overview

We are in search of experienced candidates for the role of Chief Pilot for our Challenger CL300 aircraft stationed in Chicago. This position involves a two-pilot operation, supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician, focusing on owner-operated flights under part 135 and part 91 regulations. The majority of flights are domestic, with occasional international trips to regions such as the Caribbean and Mexico, averaging around 250 flight hours annually.

This role emphasizes work-life balance, offering the crew scheduled days off each month. Trip planning is conducted in advance, and returning home during extended layovers is frequently accommodated.

Please note: This position requires residing within a reasonable commuting distance of the designated airport.

The Chief Pilot is ultimately responsible for ensuring the aircraft is operated safely, in compliance with regulations, and efficiently. The PIC must adhere to all company policies and regulatory standards while providing exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Ensuring Safe Flight Operations:

  • Guarantees compliance with crew assignments and trip protocols as per company and regulatory standards.
  • Conducts thorough flight planning, performance assessments, and weight and balance calculations for each mission.
  • Employs Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) methodology to lead necessary briefings and mitigate operational risks.
  • Adheres to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborates with relevant personnel as needed. Acts as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as per company policy.
  • Completes all pre-flight checks, ensuring the aircraft is ready for operation and documenting any discrepancies in line with SOPs.
  • Oversees all ground servicing tasks, ensuring compliance with SOPs.
  • Conducts passenger briefings according to company policy and regulations, ensuring the highest level of customer service and addressing any special requirements.
  • Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) techniques to maintain clear communication with crew and support staff during all phases of operation.

Providing Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Delivers high-quality service to clients and passengers, identifying opportunities to enhance the overall experience. Proactively addresses any service discrepancies.
  • Works collaboratively with fellow crew members and internal partners to ensure a consistent service experience. Effectively resolves conflicts and challenges.

Maintaining Compliance and Proficiency:

  • Ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory and company training requirements.
  • Participates in the company Safety Management System (SMS) and reports any safety or compliance issues through the appropriate channels.
Qualifications and Experience

4-6 years of relevant experience in aviation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is preferred.
  • Possession of an FAA Type rating for the applicable aircraft.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the role.
  • Total flight time: 3500 hours.
  • Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours.
  • Pilot in Command: 2000 hours.
  • PIC MEL: 500 hours.
  • Instrument: 300 hours.
  • Jet: 500 hours.
