Job Summary

As a key member of the engineering team at Air Methods, the Electrical Engineer 3 will oversee the creation, verification, and distribution of electrical and avionics engineering work products. This includes drawings, electronic models, technical reports, product specifications, test reports, and manufacturing specifications. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with manufacturing, supply chain, and other team members to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new electrical and avionics design concepts and analyze them to communicate to customers and other functional organizations.
  • Provide technical support to project engineers and customer experience managers regarding project deliverables, schedule adherence, and overall project status.
  • Design and develop electrical power supply requirements at a system level to support STCs and Field Approvals.
  • Modify existing off-the-shelf products to meet company needs and document modifications.
  • Support design modifications, engineering change orders, general analysis, hardware testing, and prototype development.
  • Develop project logistics plans and support design reviews and meetings as required.
  • Prepare supplemental design information related to products, including cost estimates, safety assessments, failure modes and effects analyses, electrical load analysis, test plans/reports, maintenance instructions, installation instructions, flight manual supplements, and wiring interface schematics.
  • Support certification activities by assisting with document preparation and coordination of technical issues related to ODA and/or FAA STC projects and FAA Field Approvals.
  • Work with the certification team and ODA to develop electrical and avionics concepts according to FAA regulations.
  • Assist with installation activities, planning installation/repair modification data in drawing packages, drafting wiring diagrams, and harness fabrication documents to facilitate installation in aircraft according to FAA regulations and MIL specifications.
  • Generate electrical drawings and wiring schematics using AutoCAD.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience directly related to aircraft electrical/avionics systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of FAA certification processes, aircraft operations, and electrical/communication and navigation systems.
  • Ability to interpret and use aircraft manufacturers' maintenance manuals, equipment installation instructions, and wiring diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate of Designation as DER for the appropriate Electrical Engineering regulations is preferred.
