Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a skilled Podiatrist to join our team. As a Podiatrist, you will provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice, including providing medical care to patients with foot and ankle disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care to patients with foot and ankle disorders
  • Perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide quality patient care
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with foot and ankle disorders
  • Conduct routine check-ups and examinations to monitor patient progress
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and advancements in the field of podiatry
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
  • Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
  • Licensure & Registration: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d)
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. Potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. May occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
