Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to join our team. As a Podiatrist, you will provide quality patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals. You will perform specific duties within your approved scope of practice, including diagnosing and treating conditions related to the feet and ankles.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including diagnosing and treating conditions related to the feet and ankles.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Perform specific duties within your approved scope of practice, including surgical procedures and other medical interventions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and advancements in the field of podiatry.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Licensure & Registration: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. Potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures.
