Manager, Investment Accounting & Reporting

The Manager of Investment Reporting & Analytics plays a pivotal role within AXA XL's Chief Accounting and Capital Officer (CACO) team, which consists of a globally distributed group of professionals. This position is essential in overseeing the global investment accounting close process, which encompasses the preparation, review, and delivery of investment-related results for inclusion in various reports and internal management documentation. The role includes supervising a team of two accountants based in another region, providing opportunities to engage with senior leaders across the Finance division, thereby enhancing understanding of the re/insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing and managing monthly investment accounting close processes for the Company's alternative investment portfolio in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other applicable local accounting requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving analyses and reconciliations of investment data to ensure completeness and accuracy based on IFRS and local GAAP.
  • Reviewing and approving investment schedules, notes to financial statements, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, and internal management reports for AXA Group and its subsidiaries on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Preparing audited financial statements for the Company's subsidiaries.
  • Collaborating with investment accounting service providers to ensure consistent application of accounting policies across various alternative investment portfolios, including hedge funds and private equity.
  • Designing accounting processes for new alternative investment strategies in partnership with investment management and accounting policy teams.
  • Participating in the investment budgeting and forecasting processes for the alternative portfolio in collaboration with the investment management team.
  • Preparing and reviewing cash flow statements related to alternative investment activities for various subsidiaries.
  • Assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards affecting investment accounting and disclosures under IFRS.
  • Maintaining internal controls relevant to investment accounting to comply with group and local requirements while collaborating with auditors.
  • Engaging in special projects as needed.
You will report directly to the Head of Investment Reporting, Accounting Policy, and Climate Reporting.

Required Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from an accredited institution.
  • A professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in financial accounting and reporting, with a preference for investment accounting experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with investment-related financial accounting guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accountability to oneself and the team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams located in different regions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage ad hoc requests effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
  • Familiarity with Oracle EBS, SAP, and/or Hyperion Financial Management is advantageous.
