Manager of Investment Accounting & Reporting

The Manager of Investment Reporting & Analytics plays a pivotal role within AXA XL's Chief Accounting and Capital Officer (CACO) team, which is composed of a globally distributed workforce. This position is integral to the investment accounting close process, encompassing the preparation, examination, and presentation of AXA XL's investment results for inclusion in the AXA Group Annual Report, public disclosures, and management reports. The role involves supervising a team of two professional accountants and offers opportunities to engage with senior leaders across the Finance division, enhancing knowledge of the re/insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a Manager, your core responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing and conducting monthly investment accounting close operations for the Company's alternative investment portfolio in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting regulations.
  • Reviewing and approving analyses and reconciliations of investment data to ensure completeness and accuracy in line with IFRS and local GAAP.
  • Reviewing and approving investment schedules, notes to financial statements, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, and internal management analyses for AXA Group and its subsidiaries on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Preparing audited financial statements for the Company's subsidiaries.
  • Collaborating with investment accounting service providers to ensure consistent application of accounting policies across various alternative investment portfolios, including hedge funds and private equity.
  • Designing accounting workflows for new alternative investment strategies in partnership with the investment management and accounting policy teams.
  • Participating in the investment budgeting and forecasting processes for the alternative portfolio in collaboration with the investment management team.
  • Preparing and reviewing cash flow statements related to alternative investment activities for multiple subsidiaries.
  • Assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards affecting investment accounting and disclosures under IFRS.
  • Maintaining internal controls relevant to investment accounting to comply with group and local requirements while coordinating with auditors.
  • Engaging in ad hoc projects as necessary.
You will report directly to the Head of Investment Reporting, Accounting Policy, and Climate Reporting.

Required Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from an accredited institution.
  • A professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in financial accounting and reporting, with a preference for investment accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with investment-related financial accounting standards.
  • Strong active listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, along with a high level of accountability.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with teams across different regions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and capability to manage ad hoc requests efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
  • Familiarity with Oracle EBS, SAP, and/or Hyperion Financial Management is advantageous.
