Job Summary:

Covenant Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team in the Acute-Renal and Pulmonary department. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and support to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Assist patients with mobility and transfer, including ambulation and use of wheelchairs.
  • Provide nutritional support, including distributing meal trays and filling water pitchers.
  • Perform morning and evening care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, and dressing patients.
  • Empty drains, canisters, and other equipment, and record intake and output.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment, including reporting equipment malfunctions and handling linen and supplies.
  • Perform tasks such as positioning, lifting, and turning patients, as well as assisting with the use of bedpans and urinals.
  • Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens as ordered.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKG (with additional training).
  • Respond to patient call lights and requests, and report significant changes in patients' condition to the RN.
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly patient and work environment.
  • Adhere to established infection control policies, including standard precautions and OSHA standards.

Qualifications:

  • CPR certification
  • No minimum education or experience required; preference given to individuals with a high school diploma or GED.
