Government Relations Manager

Job Summary:
The MetroHealth System is seeking a skilled Government Relations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our public policy and government relations team, you will help shape and implement strategies to advance our health system's priorities within the city of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with elected officials, public administrators, and community leaders to advance our health system's interests.
- Engage system leadership to respond to and shape local legislation and public sector funding plans that impact patient care, financial, and business plans.
- Represent MetroHealth's policy and government relations interests at public and private sector leadership meetings.
- Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, business, economics, public or health care administration, or a closely related field.
- 5 years of government relations, public policy, advocacy, or public service experience with a direct connection to healthcare.
- Thorough knowledge of county and municipal governments, officials, and communities in Cuyahoga County.
- Strong analytical, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural, political, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- 7-10 years of experience in government relations or public service in healthcare, health insurance, or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Spanish.
Physical Demands:
The successful candidate will be able to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job-related documents. Ability to use a computer.
