CALM is seeking a proactive and collaborative People Operations Specialist to enhance our Human Resources team. This essential position will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and will be responsible for managing daily people operations across our various locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the comprehensive onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless experience for new hires and departing staff.
  • Coordinate the recruitment process, which includes posting job openings, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and tracking relevant metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to evaluate, refine, and implement HR strategies that foster employee engagement, retention, and high performance.
  • Work closely with leadership to navigate complex personnel issues, addressing and resolving challenges, concerns, and complaints.
  • Drive initiatives, events, and communications that strengthen our organizational culture across all locations.
  • Act as a champion for initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Provide exceptional support for employee inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, policies, and leave management.
  • Assist in safety planning, compliance, and education efforts to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement learning and development opportunities for employees and management.
  • Manage compliance processes and reporting related to State and Federal regulations, Worker's Compensation, and Unemployment.
  • Handle employment verifications and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, and retirement plans, while liaising with insurance brokers.
  • Complete additional HR-related projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in HR or People Operations, preferably within a non-profit or mental health organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • HR Certification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of human resources management principles and current employment laws.
  • Strong commitment to CALM's mission and values, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficient in various software applications, including Microsoft Office and HRIS, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • A proactive problem-solver with excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building productive relationships across diverse employee groups.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, engage in active listening, and work on a computer.
  • Capable of standing, walking, reaching, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally.
