Physical Therapist II

As a Physical Therapist II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation and recovery of our members. Under the direction and supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager, you will be responsible for the Physical Therapy management of members, ensuring they receive the highest quality care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Test and evaluate members' impairments, functional limitations, participation barriers, and disabilities to ensure proper treatment.
- Plan therapy programs, establish treatment goals, and administer treatment to improve and/or remove impairments and minimize functional impairments.
- Include members, families, and caregivers in establishing goals and obtain members' informed consent as necessary.
- Provide members, families, and caregivers with treatment plans and instructions for home exercise programs.
- Regularly assess clinical signs and symptoms to determine the effectiveness of treatment, progress towards goals, and the need for modifying goals and treatment.
- Discharge members from Physical Therapy when they have received maximum benefit from Physical Therapy.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of Physical Therapy member management.
- Supervise the care delivered by PTAs (Physical Therapist Assistants) as per jurisdiction requirements.
- Maintain appropriate medical records documentation for services and communications regarding care.
- Consult with medical providers regarding member evaluation and treatment, care plan updates, and discharge from treatment.
- Review member records for current diagnosis, past medical history, precautions, and contraindications.
- Maintain compliance with company, state, and regulatory documentation.
- Establish a safe work environment.
- Maintain clinical competency and ethical standards as outlined in the guidelines of the APTA.
- Maintain departmental supplies, equipment, and apparatus in clean, safe, and functional condition.
- Direct and instruct support personnel in the performance of more routine procedures as requested.
- Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with the public, members, and other personnel.
- Provide triage Physical Therapy services by providing advice and care through in-person, phone, or video means.
- Deliver and/or provide input and/or assistance to Lead Therapists and Rehabilitation Managers in the delivery or development of new classes, services, member, and/or provider education, development of handouts, and other related services.
- Participate in volunteer, student, or staff mentorship and/or clinical education activities.
- Provide coverage as needed in other facilities within the region if appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum three (3) years of full-time practice as a licensed Physical Therapist in a clinical setting required.
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum for a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree with certification in physical therapy or a foreign-trained equivalent required.
- Physical Therapy Direct Access Certification (Virginia) within 6 months of hire.
- Physical Therapist License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire.
- Physical Therapist License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire.
- Physical Therapist License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire.
- PECOS Enrollment within 1 month of hire.
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
- National Provider Identifier.
- Actively pursuing and engaging in at least one of the following continuing education or clinical experience to gain/enhance clinical expertise:
- Postgraduate degree from an accredited university with a specialty focus.
- Fellowship or certificate from an accredited body or organization in a subject matter pertinent to our member population and is clinic-based.
- Expertise/competency in a clinical subject matter in high demand or in a clinical subject matter with limited resources or specialists on staff.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and problem-solving abilities in the clinic and to our members.
- Demonstrates behavior consistent with the criteria for professional practice.
- Demonstrates leadership in project management, teaching, clinical instructor for students, committee membership.
- Evidence of involvement in staff development and/or mentoring.
- Foreign-trained therapists must meet the education requirements for licensure in all states in which they will potentially practice.
- Teaches physical therapy-related health education classes.
- Actively involved in supervision and orientation of volunteers within the Physical Therapy Department.
- Participates in community activities and member education at least 2 times per year, which may include teaching health education classes, participating in medical center functions, and attending community health fairs.
- Knowledge of or practice in at least 75% of PT clinical competencies preferred.
This job requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on providing high-quality patient care. The Physical Therapist II will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
