Job Summary

The City of Boulder is seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Enterprise Data Team, you will play a critical role in providing expert technical GIS services and support across the City.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mapping and Geo-Spatial Analysis: Design and create cartographic products for print, presentation, or digital consumption. Deliver spatial, visual, and statistical analyses for clients in support of operational priorities and policy analysis.
  • GIS Asset and Data Maintenance: Maintain and enhance key GIS datasets so that operational partners have best available information. Implement GIS asset maintenance and data quality best practices.
  • Scripting and Integrations: Use object-oriented programming and scripting languages as they relate to web mapping applications, process improvement, and automation.
  • Collaboration with GIS Communities of Practice: Work with GIS professionals in City departments to share resources, learning, and best practices that advance the quality of their own GIS work and that of the whole City.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related field.
  • Ability to perform in a remote or virtual environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in the use of relational databases and queries.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Ability to work tactfully and effectively with workgroups, divisions, departments, governmental agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-sufficiency in a professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in geography, business, or public administration, engineering, computer science, natural resource management, or related field.
  • Experience working in municipal governments or otherwise demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • Experience in using open-source coding languages for geospatial analysis.
Working Conditions and Requirements
