Critical Care Flight Nurse - Ground Transport (Full Time)

Position Overview

The Critical Care Flight Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during transport and requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with medical personnel regarding patient status, critical observations, and any changes in condition. Ensures thorough documentation of discharge planning.
  • Conducts comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients, ensuring accurate admission history and discharge planning.
  • Addresses all aspects of patient care, including spiritual, cultural, developmental, educational, and psychosocial needs.
  • Delegates nursing responsibilities based on staff qualifications and competencies.
  • Performs ongoing assessments in accordance with policies and when changes in care plans occur.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and document patient care plans, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
  • Provides education to patients and families regarding health-related topics, including disease management, medication, treatment options, and safety protocols.
  • Promotes a safe working environment by adhering to infection control measures and conducting thorough hand-offs.
  • Ensures the prevention of medication errors, falls, and other procedural complications while maintaining patient safety.
  • Offers continuous supervision and support for behavioral health patients, utilizing non-violent crisis intervention strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active RN Licensure in the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC).
  • Current certification in ACLS from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of CPI training within 90 days of hire.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • NRP certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • National certification (CFRN, CCRN, CNPT) to be obtained within 18 months.
  • Trauma certification (TNCC, PHTLS, ITLS) to be completed within 180 days.
  • Completion of FEMA ICS 100 and ICS 200 classes within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of competency assessment within specified timeframes based on care setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in acute care, Pediatric Emergency Department, or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • EMT certification is preferred.
  • At least 2000 hours of Level II/Level III Neonatal experience within the last two years is a plus.
  • Experience in Pediatric Nursing within an acute care environment is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively with excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and analytical thinking.
  • Competence in analyzing and interpreting data to inform patient care decisions.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call assignments as per departmental policies.
