Job Summary

UofL Health is seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing mammography and other radiographic examinations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography and other radiographic examinations according to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
  • Ensure radiation safety practices are followed during all radiographic examinations.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
  • Assess patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure.
  • Perform pre and post exam patient education pertinent to the exam being performed.
  • Produce radiographs according to established protocols within the Breast Care Center with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality.
  • Perform Mammography quality control tests as stated by ACR and MQSA standards.
  • Ensure that assigned areas are kept clean, neat and orderly.
  • Ensure examinations are complete to include, films and appropriate paperwork are together and exam logged in computer system.
  • Instruct Radiologic Technology students in the radiographic positioning, technique, and film critique.
  • Attend and participate in department staff meetings and inservices.
  • Assist in training new personnel in hospital and department procedures.
  • Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Presents a positive image of the hospital and department.
  • Assist in quality improvement programs in the department.
  • Maintain appropriate credentials needed for clinical practice and ensures a current copy is maintained in department/hospital files.
Requirements
  • Registered with ARRT
  • KY Radiation Operators Certification
  • BLS
  • Mammo Registry within 1 year of employment
  • Prefer 1 year recent experience as a General Radiographer
