We are an employee-owned full-service electrical contractor that has experienced significant growth over the past few years. Our commercial projects span various sectors, including aviation, corporate offices, entertainment, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, industrial, mission-critical, and mixed-use developments.

The Director of Field Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of field operations within the organization. They manage distinct teams involved in field operations, scheduling, and logistics, ensuring seamless coordination and efficiency across departments. The Director collaborates closely with other key stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient project execution, quality assurance, and performance.

This role also involves providing mentorship and support to field personnel, promoting their career growth. Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing leadership and direction to field operations, scheduling, and logistics teams, aligning their efforts with company objectives and core values.
  • Managing field leadership hiring and overseeing terminations, working closely with the Director of Field Leadership Development on hiring decisions.
  • Supervising manpower scheduling teams and managing day-to-day job assignments.
  • Oversseeing manpower forecasting for all open projects and collaborating with the Director of Operations on overall forecasting.
  • Communicating regularly with the recruiting team regarding field-related hiring needs.
  • Managing logistics team's scheduling and forecasting, ensuring consistent tool, material, and equipment processes across projects.
  • Counseling and addressing field-related HR issues, working closely with HR and Operations for resolution.
  • Overseeing all field leadership project assignments.
  • Conducting career pathing discussions, managing advancements, and approving wage increases for the field team.
  • Performing quarterly check-ins and annual performance reviews with direct reports.
  • Ensuring project manpower ratios are consistent and forecasted within budget.
  • Regularly overseeing production labor tracking reports and addressing deficiencies with field leaders.
  • Working closely with the Director of Field Leadership Development to ensure field employees progress and are exposed to leadership development training.
  • Collaborating with field-related departments on policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with the implementation, training, and enforcement of field-related policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with the Prefabrication Manager on policies and procedures, promoting prefabrication among field leadership.
  • Collaborating with the QA/QC team on policies and procedures, enforcing and upholding these policies with field leaders.
  • SUPPORTING THE ORGANIZATION BY BRIDGING COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION BETWEEN OFFICE AND FIELD OPERATIONS.
  • Oversewing and optimizing field operations processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall project performance.
  • Collaborating with project management teams and all levels of field leadership to ensure project execution and success remain the primary focus.
  • Developing and implementing best practices for project execution.
  • Collaborating with the VP of Operations to set goals and objectives for the field operations department, monitoring progress and performance against key metrics.
  • Fostering effective communication and collaboration between field teams to ensure clear understanding of project objectives and requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within field operations, identifying opportunities for process optimization and innovation.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Contributing to the development and management of department budgets, resource allocation, and project cost control.
  • Championing a culture of quality excellence, promoting a no-rework, do-it-right-the-first-time mindset and ensuring adherence to quality regulations and standards.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in electrical construction operations, with at least 10 years in a leadership or executive role.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction building processes, project management, and industry best practices.
  • Proven track record of successful project logistics, execution, and manpower scheduling.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align field operations strategies with overall company goals.
  • Proficiency in construction software and technology tools for project management, logistics, scheduling, and communication.

Estimated Annual Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
