We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician III to join our team at the University of Denver. This role will perform repairs and maintenance at a semi-skilled level in multiple trade areas, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform work in at least three or more trade areas, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
- Install and/or replace various materials, such as ceiling tile, suspended ceilings, floor tile, ceramic tile, steel studs, sheetrock, plastic laminate, screens, drapery rods, door hardware, brick work, concrete, painting and patching, shelving, pumps, motors, filters, electrical switches, receptacles, and ballasts.
- Operate power equipment, including power saws, sanders, drill presses, and other equipment as required.
- Report for emergency snow removal, which may require early morning shifts.
- Direct lower classifications, permanent and temporary assigned personnel, as needed.
- Assist other trades that require a specific license or certification.
- Read blueprints and work from sketches, layouts, or penciled drawings.
- A high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Five years of experience in three out of the five following trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and electrical trades.
- A valid Colorado Driver's License and insurability under University guidelines.
- Pass a pre-employment physical exam and lift 100 lbs.
This role requires working in various environments, including near moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, around electricity, chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is moderate to high, and unexpected interruptions often occur.
Physical DemandsThis position requires moderate to strenuous physical effort, including extended periods of standing, walking, using hands to handle, hold, and control tools and objects, reaching with arms, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. The ability to push, pull, lift, and carry objects of up to 100 lbs is also required.
