Makerspace Lab Technician

mPower, Inc. is seeking a skilled Makerspace Lab Technician to support the smooth operation of our makerspace. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the makerspace, ensuring the availability and functionality of equipment, and providing technical support to users.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of facility and equipment usage, schedules, and inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Manage and schedule repairs of equipment as needed, and schedule preventative maintenance visits.
  • Provide technical support to users, including training on equipment use and device fabrication.
  • Develop and refine protocols for makerspace use based on collaborator requirements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Associate's degree and/or multi-year related experience or the equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a lab or industry technician, or experience in a makerspace environment.
  • Experience in makerspace or fab-lab environment, mission, and operations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good understanding of basic concepts of mechanical systems, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic and mechanical instruments and devices.
  • Ability to learn new technical skills as necessary to achieve project goals.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
  • Experience with computer-aided design software.
