Job Summary

COLSA is seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team. As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and verification of avionics systems for aircraft and other defense-related applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of avionics engineering principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future aircraft and joint service weapon systems.
  • Support the development of avionics subsystems, including definition, development, integration, and verification methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test avionics systems, including aircraft information management systems and spectrum management requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on the path forward for the installation of new hardware and software into the system.
  • Assist in reviewing and performing assessments on program-specific databases and technical documents.
  • Support the development of requirements for future upgrades to associated equipment and systems.
  • Apply knowledge of airworthiness certification criteria and regulations to ensure compliance with FAA and DoD requirements.
  • Assist in translating user requirements into system requirements and design specifications.
  • Support the development of technical evaluations, engineering studies, reports, and analyses.
  • Participate in value stream mapping activities and Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO21) program facilitation.
  • Assist in generating and managing configuration management, data management, and risk management processes and plans.
Requirements
  • BS/MS degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years' functional area experience.
  • Knowledge of avionics engineering principles, processes, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level.
